Position Summary:

Florida Atlantic is seeking a Locksmith - Boca Raton, FL

Summary of Responsibilities:

Lock System Administration – Administer, manage, and maintain Student Affair’s lock system including coordinating and collaborating with the greater University community for integrated security and related needs.

  • ESSENTIAL - 20% - Record Keeping – Manage and maintain a comprehensive and meticulous record/accounting of keying systems for each building. Keep accurate records of keys when distributed and returned.  Review current and applicable polices, best practices, and make recommendations for changes or updates to ensure maximized security (where appropriate) including needs for enhancements or improvements, contingent upon industry changes and trends.

  • ESSENTIAL - 11% -Key and Lock Duplication - Creates master key using relevant computer programs/software.  Duplicate keys and locks with precision and accuracy using key cutting machine.

  • ESSENTIAL - 20% - Lock Installation - Install both mechanical and electric locks to ensure the security of premises.

  • ESSENTIAL - 17 % - Maintenance and Repair - Adjust, maintain, and repair existing lock systems. Replace door locks, padlocks, tumbler locks, combination locks, and various other lock hardware such as panic bars, door checks, latches, catches, fasteners, and door closures.

  • ESSENTIAL - 17 % -Supply and Parts - Research materials and order parts as needed.  Keep an inventory of supplies/parts for keying machine and related equipment. 

  • ESSENTIAL - 10 % -Maintain key cutting machinery/equipment to ensure proper working order.  Ensure for continued operational needs and obtain repairs/parts as needed.  Coordinate/obtain annual (or when required) maintenances.

  • ESSENTIAL - 3 % -Stay abreast current industry standards.  Attend trainings and/or related development opportunities as required or delegated.

  • MARGINAL - 2% - Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of the ninth grade and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. A valid non-commercial (regular) Class E Driver’s license is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or equivalent and minimally two (2) years as a Locksmith. Appropriate vocational/technical training may be substituted for experience.
Strong knowledge of various lock systems and hardware.
Proficient in key and lock duplication techniques.
Experience and proficiency installing both mechanical and electric locks.
Experience providing effective customer service in the installation, maintenance, and support of performing all tasks related to locks, keying (and re-keying) and related security systems.

Salary:

$21.00 - $23.00 per hour
