The Department of World Languages and Cultures at Georgia College and State University invites applications for a non-renewable, one-year, limited-term Spanish lecturer position for Academic Year 2024-25, beginning August 1, 2024. We seek a dynamic and creative colleague who enjoys teaching culture-rich Spanish language courses at the introductory- and intermediate-levels. The incumbent will teach fifteen credit-hours per semester and be an integral part of a group of faculty committed to curricular innovation and to providing exciting, proficiency-driven courses to students fulfilling their language requirements and to majors, minors, and non-majors.
All faculty in the department share the responsibility of teaching core curriculum courses and introductory- and intermediate-level language courses. All faculty in the department contribute service to the Institution. Service for this position includes recruiting majors and minors, mentoring students, attending and encouraging students to attend co-curricular activities organized by the department, engaging in committee work, advising a student organization like the Spanish Club, or participating in special programs or projects.

Educational Requirements
Applicants must have an MA or PhD in Spanish or a related field and meet SACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org, faculty credentials): the completion of a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in Spanish.
Other Required Qualifications
We seek applicants with native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English and who have an interest in teaching and mentoring in a public liberal arts context. We seek applicants who love language teaching and are able to work collegially and effectively with students and colleagues of diverse backgrounds, contributing, through their own unique perspectives and experiences, to the excellence of the academic community. We seek applicants with strong training in L2 methodology, superior language teaching skills in a proficiency-based environment, and a commitment to methodological innovation and creative teaching strategies.
