Job Summary

Under supervision, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, with the direction of the Medical Director, utilizes the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide safe, therapeutic care for Dermatology patients. Functions as a member of the interdisciplinary and nursing teams; carries out established nursing procedures and performs related duties as required by patient need. Coordinates new and existing patient paper work relevant to care to be given. The LVN triages patient phone calls and messages, directing assessment need calls to RN or MD. Assists with the management of patient care administered by other members of the medical and nursing team. They are expected to be proficient in the electronic medical record (EMR) system of the Medical Center (EPIC/APeX). They are also required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center.

Required Qualifications

  • One to two year related experience in similar environment.
  • Able to sit at a computer terminal and use telephone headphones for extended periods of time. Excellent spoken and written communication.
  • Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a derm surgical department preferred.


License/Certification

  • Active Licensed Vocational Nurse licensure in the State of California
  • Active American Heart Association CPR Certification
