Position Summary:

Rutgers The State University is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse within the Intensive Outpatient Treatment and Support Services of Rutgers University Behavioral Healthcare. 
The primary purpose of the License Practical Nurse position is to provide direct medical care, wellness counseling, perform treatments and procedures within established guidelines, and provide a safe and therapeutic outpatient environment. Provides case management, mental health, rehabilitative, educational, services as identified by group and individual contact with consumers.
Among the key duties of this position are the following: 

• As required by individual program, assumes direct care responsibilities for consumer and provides individual, group, family supportive counseling, crisis intervention, outreach, psycho-education, skills building, educational, medical services and coordination, and case management services as identified by individual program.
• Counsels a caseload of consumer and/or families with empathy and concern.
• Involves consumer and/or family in jointly formulating Treatment/Individualized Recovery Plans reflecting measurable goals and objectives based on clinical assessment, in accordance with all regulatory requirements.
• Engages consumer in appropriate treatment interventions based on clinical assessment.
• Responds with sensitivity to spiritual, cultural, and socioeconomic issues of consumers.

• Work requires regular and recurring periods of standing, walking, lifting, and driving a RBHS car or van.

Work Environment: 

• Work will be performed in a wide range of settings, including within UBHC; in the consumer's home; in community-based settings; or in transport vehicles. 
• Consumers can present with active psychiatric symptoms, mixed responses to interventions, and unstable living and relationship situations. 
• Fast paced environment that demands ability to attend to multiple consumer needs and provide crisis intervention when indicated. 
• Work areas may be noisy, irregular and unpredictable and can be stressful at times.
