Job Description:

RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Provide mental health assessment, followed by brief mental health counseling as appropriate or referral to outside resources for traditional undergraduate students.

  • Supervision of student trainees/Associates (Masters in Clinical Counseling program/registered Associates - AMFT, APCC, ACSW)

  • Administer protocols to manage high risk clinical issues.

  • Provide mental health assessment to determine immediate risk for self-harm; make appropriate referrals.  

  • Act as a liaison, actively collaborate, and provide referrals to assist students to access appropriate campus offices or departments. 

  • Lead process and psycho-educational groups for students.

  • Provide consultation and support to Student Life and Formation administrative staff as requested.

  • Participate in rotational on-call schedule and respond to after hours mental health emergencies.

  • Implement collaborative student focused health education activities

  • Represents the WCC through participation in administrative meetings, committee membership and other university functions, programs and/or events.  

  • Counseling representative on Student Care Team. 

  • Maintains legal and ethical clinical practices within the WCC.

  •  The supervisor will remain updated on current legal and ethical standards within the profession through membership in relevant professional organizations and attendance of appropriate professional conferences and/or workshops.  

  • Works in collaboration with PLNU graduate psychology programs to provide clinical sites for students when appropriate.

  • Works in collaboration with interprofessional departments (Wellness Health, Residential Life, Student Care, Educational Access Center, etc.)  to provide seamless overall care of students especially in crisis situations.


Experience

  • Clinical supervisor.

  • Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of PLNU.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid licensure as a Clinical Psychologist, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW.)

  • Valid license as a supervisor of trainee and associate-level clinicians.

  • Experience in the provision of brief mental health counseling required.

  • Evidence of Christian commitment and active church involvement. In addition, staff agree to live in agreement with PLNU’s Community Life Covenant .

  • Ability to conduct substance abuse assessment and facilitate appropriate referrals, preferred.

  • At least 3-5 years counseling experience within a campus health care facility, college/university, or other human service agency, preferred.

  • Knowledge of guidelines for the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Title II, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act for the provision of disability support within postsecondary settings, preferred.

  • Job offer is contingent on clear background check

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The work is primarily sedentary and may require sitting for extended periods of time.

  • Use of computer equipment: computer keyboard, mouse, and monitor.

  • Vision to read documents, e-mail and other correspondence, and reports on paper and computer monitor. 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others in person and by phone.

  • Will also stand, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 10 lbs throughout the day.
