General Description of the Job Class

Provide professional counseling services in a DUHS program designed in assisting participants in behavior change to maintain a healthy lifestyle and quality of life through individual and group therapy.

Duties and Responsibilities of this Level

  • Provide professional counseling services to patients and their families that are enrolled in Cardiac Rehab and Pulmonary Rehab programs.
  • Counsel and teach on the following, but not limited to: behavior change, stress management, mindful eating sessions, to assist the participants in achieving, prescribed objectives.
  • Administer, interpret and assess the results of related program administered assessment tests. Provide counseling/education via short term 1:1 counseling sessions and in group settings.
  • Assist with the development of mind/body programming into wellness program, i.e. cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation, weight management.
  • Provide education to patients and families related to issues that impact patient care.
  • Conduct lectures and participates in community outreach activities. Identify concerns and make referrals to other specialists when needed. Serve as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to staff members working with clients as needed.
  • Facilitate problem solving between staff and/or clients.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. herein.

Required Qualifications at this Level Education

Work requires a Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work.

Experience

None required beyond education/training requirement.

Degrees, Licensure,and/or Certification 

Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (LCMHCs) by the North Carolina Board of Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors (NCBLCMHC).
