JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


The Pennsylvania Center for the Book (PACFTB) at Penn State University Libraries is actively seeking an individual with a passion for writing, technology, and literacy to join our team. The Library Services Associate will contribute to the fulfillment of our mission to study, honor, celebrate, and promote books, reading, libraries, and literacy throughout the Commonwealth. 


Position Summary: The Library Services Associate will play a crucial role in supporting and enhancing the Pennsylvania Center for the Book’s digital presence and on-site and online initiatives.  


Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:  


  • Updating, maintaining, and composing content on the PACFTB website, including text-based content on the Literary and Cultural Heritage Maps of Pennsylvania project. 

  • Collaborating with team members to create and edit engaging multimedia content, including images, videos, social media posts, and press releases. 

  • Aiding in the planning and coordination of PACFTB outreach activities and special events, both online and in-person. 

  • Participating in planning meetings for PACFTB initiatives and assisting with routine budget reporting. 


 


 Qualifications: 


  • High School Diploma/GED or Vocational Training/Degree (Associate’s degree or higher preferred) and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior relevant experience preferred in editing, copy editing, outreach, social media promotion, and marketing communications. 

  • Strong technology skills.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.  

  • Interest in creating dynamic and impactful digital content 

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Drupal, Photoshop, Open Journal Systems, and SIMBA financial software preferred. 

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with the PACFTB team.  

  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new skills. 

  • Demonstrated commitment to outreach and promoting activities that support literacy and Pennsylvania history.

The pay range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
