The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is the country’s oldest state university. Position Description

The Library Purchasing Lead for library operations provides professional, advisory, technical and administrative skills for completing the libraries’ purchasing and receiving operations. As needed, this position assists in tracking the operating purchasing budget. This position is not responsible for library materials purchases that are added to the collection.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or Associate’s degree and two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

The Library Purchasing Lead must have prior experience with managing procedural aspects of purchasing activities; tracking purchasing budgets; and a strong working knowledge of Excel and Outlook.

The successful candidate must be able to work independently; possess strong communication skills (written and oral); strong organizational skills; have the ability to appropriately prioritize work utilizing good time management skills; demonstrated ability to apply appropriate judgment to resolve problems; and the ability to complete tasks in a timely manner with attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of PeopleSoft Financials; Completion of some accounting coursework.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Valid NC driver’s license

Special Physical and Mental Requirements

Must be able to move up to 50 lbs; May need to drive periodically to pick up specialty items. Ability to assemble items following the manufacturer’s directions.
