Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in education, liberal arts, business, computer/information science or related field and four years related experience. Additional experience may be used on a one-to-one basis to offset the educational requirements. Grade 3 (Hourly)

Position Description:

The position provides support for Ekstrom library programs, services, and events that promote student engagement and help advance campus-wide strategic priorities focusing on student success and retention. The position supports the development of partnerships with the Student Success Center, the Learning Commons, and other relevant campus units. The position supports the evaluation and improvement of Ekstrom Library services and event programming by collecting and analyzing relevant qualitative and quantitative data. As a member of the Research Assistance and Instruction Department, the position also contributes to departmental liaison activities, provides general research assistance to students and other library patrons, and helps coordinate departmental communications via email, social media, and other platforms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Refine existing and develop new Ekstrom Library programs and resources (in person and online) in support of the University's retention and persistence efforts.
  • Serve as Ekstrom Library's liaison to relevant campus offices to help align library services to the student support network.
  • Develop and coordinate student engagement events, activities and resources with Ekstrom Library Learning Commons partners and other relevant campus offices.
  • Coordinate and provide minimal support for non-library events hosted in library spaces, ensuring adherence to library policies and guidelines.
  • Support the review, evaluation, and improvement of Ekstrom Library services and event programming by collecting relevant data and working to understand user preferences, activities, and needs.
  • Collect and/or analyze qualitative and quantitative data on Ekstrom library public services and events.
  • Prepare reports for library administration that would inform new or improved public services and events.
  • Collaborate with the Research Assistance and Instruction Department and the Communications Specialist to promote Ekstrom Library programs and services on social media and other platforms.
  • Provide direct research assistance to students and other library patrons at service desks and through other channels.
  • Additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in academic libraries
  • Experience in higher education
  • Advanced experience with Excel and other data analysis tools
  • Demonstrated experience developing social media programs or other promotional materials or services.
