Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Library Supervisor 1, participates as a member of the Reference Department. Provides high level reference assistance by exercising a broad range of reference skills and independent judgment. Supervises and trains student assistants. Manages all aspects of the reference collections. Provides instruction and support for the Libraries' Education and Outreach activities. Participates in library-wide activities and group projects or other duties as assigned.

$27.82 - $30.46 (Hourly Rate) Expected Pay Range within the Full Salary Range $27.82 - $38.04 (Hourly Rate)

Required:

• Minimum of 3 years of related experience working in an academic or public library or relevant education and training.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Strong working knowledge of library catalogs and discovery systems, article databases, and the Internet.
• Skills in working with and knowledge of a variety of materials and formats in a research library.
• Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively and to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within UCI Libraries and the campus Ability to supervise student assistants.
• Demonstrated instruction experience.
• Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
• Experience working at a public service point (virtually or in person).
• Working knowledge of office productivity software (e.g., Microsoft Office or Google Suite).
• Experience gathering and analyzing data and providing reports using spreadsheets.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team and to consult with colleagues about questions and problems as well as make contributions.
• Skills to meet deadlines, develop priorities, and evaluate workflow with multiple functions.
• Demonstrated superior communication skills, both orally and in writing, with the public, supervisors, and coworkers.
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a changing environment.
• Ability to handle emergency situations in a professional manner following the UCI Libraries' emergency and security procedures.

Preferred:

• Experience with UX design General knowledge of the UCI Libraries organization and the functions of its departments.
• General knowledge of the UCI campus, facilities, and services.
• Working knowledge of University of California policies and procedures.
