This position will be working with the emerging technology (ET) services unit at the OU Libraries. Workers in this position will assist members of the ET unit to augment the research and instruction lifecycle through the use of emerging technologies like 3D printing, 3D scanning, Virtual and Augmented Reality.
Successful applicants will develop competencies in a variety of emerging technologies through their work.
Students will be assigned to one of three emerging technology services: 3D Scanning, 3D Printing, or Mixed-Reality Services.
Job Duties:
- Follow workflows established by the ET unit including:
- 3D scanning (non-sensitive/non-fragile objects)
- Starting and monitoring 3D prints
- 3D printer troubleshooting, diagnosis, and maintenance
- Documenting projects under ET guidance for preservation and/or publication
- Coordinating and overseeing Virtual and Augmented Reality sessions
- Assisting with course integrations
- Maintaining functionality of the ET Virtual Reality Cart
- Developing software to provide solutions for the ET unit needs using development platforms (e.g. Godot, Unity, and Unreal) and programming languages (e.g. C#, python, R, GDScript, and C++)
- Developing 3d models to provide solutions for the ET unit needs
- Enter data related to ET projects and processes
- Participate in monthly team meetings
- Perform basic PC troubleshooting
- Perform other duties as assigned

Required Education: Must be currently enrolled in the SPRING term as a student at the University of Oklahoma. Hiring contingent upon verification of current student status.
Must attach SPRING 2024 class schedule.

- Must communicate effectively in written and oral English.
- Must be resilient to changing tasks and environments.
- Must be able to multi-task.
- Must practice effective time management skills and be willing to evolve these skills.
- Possess the willingness to learn and interact with new unfamiliar technology.
Department Preferences:
- Available to work for at least 10 hours per week.
- Prior experience in 3D Printing, 3D Scanning, and Virtual Reality, or demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
- Portfolio (physical and/or digital) of projects in a format that is shareable with the hiring committee.
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Regular bending, stooping, reaching, stretching, standing for extended periods, frequent computer use, and light lifting.
