Summary

The Department of Slavic Languages & Literatures at the University of Michigan invites applications for a 33.33% non-tenure track instructional position (Lecturer I) for the Spring 2024 half-term, May 7-June 27. The budget for this position is for Spring 2024 half-term only. The candidate must be qualified and prepared to teach one undergraduate course related to Central European Cinema on race, ethnicity, and gender issues.

Responsibilities*

Responsibilities will include teaching, in English, one, three-credit undergraduate course about Central European Cinema on race, ethnicity, and gender issues. Slavic 312 will be offered MWF, 10 am -12 pm for seven weeks. The instructor will be required to hold at least two office hours each week the course is offered and maintain regular contact with students through email/Canvas.


Required Qualifications*

Requirements for this position include a record of excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. Preference will be given to instructors who previously taught Slavic 312 at the University of Michigan.

Ph.D. in hand by start date in Slavic Studies is required, as well as English fluency.

Prior teaching at a North American institution of higher learning is highly preferred.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
