Summary

The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of xx at the University of Michigan invite applications for a LEO Lec I  position at 66.67% effort for the Summer Half-Term 2024.  This appointment is scheduled to begin on July 1st, 2024 and end on August 31st, 2024.

Psych 111 Introduction to Psychology
Schedule TBD: eight hours of class contact each week.
Modality: Remote

Introduction to Psychology is a broad survey course which provides an overview of the methods, terms, and findings in the field through an exploration of the various theoretical bases for the understanding of human behavior. The multiple disciplines comprising the psychological literature will be presented throughout the class and students will be expected to identify the strengths and limitations associated with these theories. Students will explore the biological processes of behavior, sensation and perception, learning and memory as well as examine the theories of personality, cognitive and social development. The impact of cultural influences willalso be presented throughout the class.

Responsibilities*

The successful candidate is responsible for all aspects of remote lectures 8 hours/week during Summer 2024 half term. Responsibilities include but are not limited to preparing a syllabus, preparing weekly lessons including readings and assignments, holding regular online office hours, writing exams, holding review sessions, responding to student emails, grading assignments and maintaining a grade book, and assigning and entering final grades. 


Required Qualifications*

The candidate must hold a Ph.D. in psychology, or a closely related field. The candidate must have demonstrated excellence in college-level teaching  in the United States.

The selection criteria used for this search is based on how the applicant?s education and experience meets the required minimum qualifications for the position.  Excellence in teaching and instruction will be the principal criteria used to select the successful candidate.


Desired Qualifications*

Priority will be given to those candidates with recent experience teaching Psych 111 Introduction to Psychology. Experience in teaching psychology courses preferred.

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
