I. DEPARTMENT INFORMATION


Job Description Summary:
The George Washington University (GW) is seeking a Legal Assistant Temp to
join its Office of the Senior Vice President and General Counsel (OGC). OGC provides quality
legal, strategic and policy advice, and counseling on a broad range of cutting edge issues that
confront a large urban private research university. The successful candidate will be expected to
provide exceptional legal and administrative support. This position will report to the Special
Assistant and Business Operations Manager.

Responsibilities include
:
-Schedule meetings and maintain calendars for multiple attorneys.
-Open, log and distribute mail.
-Process travel and expense reports.
-Draft correspondence, reports, tables, forms and other basic legal documents for attorney
approval.
-Perform a variety of routine clerical tasks such as assembling materials, preparing
documents for mail or courier delivery, updating spreadsheets, photocopying, typing,
filing and preparing documents for archives.
-Manage the reception area. Greet visitors and answer phone calls in a professional
manner. Maintain daily attendance sheets.
-Manage conference room scheduling; organize all aspects of meetings (i.e., set up and
break down/clean up)
-Monitor, stock, and order office and kitchen supplies.
-Assist office staff and attorneys with minor IT and Microsoft Office Suite troubleshooting.
-Assist other staff and attorneys with transporting materials between key GW offices.
-Perform other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the
supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Licensure/Certification: Current ACE, ACSM, AFAA, CSCS, NASM or comparable Group exercise certification. Training and appropriate certification related to CPR and AED required after date of hire.
  • Experience: Conducted a minimum of fifty (50) hours of fitness classes in a specialized program.
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Additional Required Licenses/Certifications/Posting Specific Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s degree
-2+ years of legal and administrative support experience.
-Outstanding customer service and attention to details.
-Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suites, Adobe, Box, and standard office equipment such
as a photocopier and scanner.
-Proactive team player with outstanding organizational, time-management, and both oral
and written communication skills.
-Ability to prioritize work and exercise independent judgment and initiative.
