Essential Functions (Job Duties)
Literacy for Racial and Linguistic Diversity
Teach and develop undergraduate and graduate courses as well as in-service initiatives for PK-12 educators in elementary literacy, secondary English education, and/or children's and adolescent literature.
Advise, mentor, and help recruit and retain undergraduate and graduate students.
Contribute to the ongoing innovation of impactful undergraduate and graduate programs.
Participate in RLL, TED, and College of Education meetings and committees.
Unique Duties
Earned Master's degree in Education, Teacher Education, or Curriculum & Instruction, with a specialization in Reading, Literacy, or English Education, or a related field.
Minimum of three years of experience teaching full-time in PK-12 school contexts.
Experience working in urban, racially and linguistically diverse, and inclusive school settings.
University-level teaching experience, including on-campus, online, and hybrid formats.
Preferred Qualifications
Earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Education, Teacher Education, or Curriculum & Instruction, with a specialization in Reading, Literacy, or English Education, or a related field.
Experience teaching elementary reading and literacy courses at the university level.
Experience using critical race and culturally sustaining/relevant pedagogies in PK-12 and/or university contexts.
Experience or interest in curriculum development and in the recruitment and retention of students of color.
Experience coaching and guiding pre-service teachers in clinical or practicum experiences.
