School/College/Division Description | The College of General Studies offers an array of classes that lead to an Associate of Arts and Sciences (AAS) degree and satisfy general education requirements for bachelor’s degrees at UWM and other UW System campuses. The college offers courses on UWM’s campuses in Milwaukee and Waukesha. It was created in 2018 when UW-Waukesha and UW-Washington County joined with UWM as part of the University of Wisconsin System’s reorganization of the two-year campuses formerly known as UW Colleges. The College of General Studies includes three departments — Arts and Humanities, Math and Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences and Business. The departments offer classes in more than 29 subject areas. |
Job Summary | The College of General Studies invites applications for an instructional academic staff member in the Arts and Humanities Department for Fall 2024. This is a fixed-term position with the possibility of renewal contingent on enrollments. This position will teach introductory level courses; hold appropriate office hours; attend orientation activities; attend instructor meetings, and perform required grading, assessment, and reporting tasks. Courses will primarily be at the Milwaukee campus teaching in the First Year Bridge Program: First-Year Bridge Program – UWM College of General Studies – University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with the possibility of additional teaching at Waukesha campus. Anticipated staffing is needed for the following introductory level program-focused courses:
Detailed descriptions of these courses can be found within the UWM CGS Course Catalog . Contract starts August 19, 2024. Fall classes begin September 5, 2024. New staff orientation is scheduled within the contract period. |
