The English Department at CU Denver oversees the university’s core composition program, which consists of a sequence of two classes—English 1020 and 2030. The Department also offers undergraduate majors in Literature, Film, Creative Writing, and Writing, Rhetoric, and Technology; as well as an MA degree in English Studies. Position Emphasis:

The English Department seeks a teacher with experience in composition instruction to teach 1-2 sections of core composition. Each class section meets two times per week for one hour and fifteen minutes per session. In addition to leading class discussion, composition teachers must also prepare for classes, provide regular feedback on assignments, and meet with students outside the classroom. A successful applicant will have training in composition studies and experience in the composition classroom. The applicant should be able to engage undergraduates who are just beginning their college careers. This is a part-time position that may require the applicant to teach on the Downtown Denver campus.

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring rate (or budgeted rate) for this position has been established at $8,712  per 6-credit hour course section.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree in English or related field.

Required:  Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire

Preferred Qualifications:

Training in composition pedagogy and experience in the classroom teaching composition.
