The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry within the College of Arts and Sciences seeks a Lecturer to join our team. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the university. The College hosts 81 majors. The Biochemistry Division is seeking a Lecturer to teach two sections of Biochemistry 5621 “Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Laboratory” during Autumn Semester 2018. The lecture periods will take place Tuesday/Thursday, from 8:00 – 9:30 a.m. and 1:50 – 3:30 p.m. in Room 684 of the Biological Sciences Bldg., 484 W. 12th Ave. with up to 22 students enrolled in each section. Additionally, the Lecturer will be expected to participate in the 2.5 hour laboratory period that immediately follows each lecture period to assist the Laboratory Supervisor and TAs in addressing conceptual and procedural questions as well as proper laboratory safety, technique, and skills.
Lecturer will be expected to prepare and deliver lectures; develop instructional visual aids; occasionally perform laboratory technique demonstrations; engage with students and TAs during the laboratory period that follows each lecture period; participate with Laboratory Supervisor in preparing and supervising the grading of exams and laboratory reports; participate in weekly meetings with assigned TAs and the Laboratory Supervisor; respond to student and staff emails in a timely manner; and other duties as assigned.

Doctoral degree in Chemistry or related field and experience; teaching students at an institute of higher education.
Experience teaching foundational concepts in established laboratory techniques in biochemistry and molecular biology in a teaching lab format; demonstrated ability to lead and motivate learners
