Position Overview

The Department of Near Eastern and South Asian Languages and Cultures within the College of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce a vacancy for a temporary Instructor of Arabic. This online position is available during the summer 2024.

Performance Objectives

The incumbent will teach two assigned online courses (Elementary Modern Standard Arabic II/Intensive, AR1102 & Intermediate Modern Standard Arabic II/Intensive, AR2104), hold office hours, grade assignments, and submit grades, participate in curriculum development and related pedagogical activities.

Appointment to this position will be during the 6-week summer session 2, from June 17 - July 25, 2024.

Qualifications

Among the qualifications required for appointment is an M.A or Ph.D. degree in teaching Arabic as a foreign language (TAFL) or a related field; Strong experience in teaching Arabic as a second or foreign language including teaching aspects of Arab culture and society to American students in higher education and familiarity with the communicative approach; native fluency in Arabic; excellent English skills; and at least three years of teaching experience at the university level (preferably in the U.S). Evidence of ability to provide high-quality online instruction is desirable.
