The Department of Economics, one of six academic departments in the Belk College of Business, has a strong core of applied quantitative and econometric researchers investigating economic, business, and social policies. Our programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels contain many courses that develop and apply these analytical skills that prepare students for the workplace and further study.

Description of Work

Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Department of Economics in the Belk College of Business at UNC Charlotte is seeking to fill a Lecturer / Sr. Lecturer/ Clinical Assistant Professor position. The candidate will teach eight sections during the academic year. Preference will be given to candidates with strong econometrics skills and/or experience in teaching econometrics. In addition to teaching, responsibilities for this position include sufficient research and/or other professional activities to meet the Belk College Faculty Qualification Standards as well as service activities in the Department, including contributions that support the mission and strategic initiatives of the Department and College. The candidate will also engage in appropriate service activities in the College, University and Charlotte community.
Minimum Experience/Education

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
A Master’s degree in economics or related field is required. Candidates with a doctoral degree will be considered for the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor; all other candidates will be considered for the rank of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. All degree requirements must be completed by the time of appointment.
The Department prefers candidates with prior experience working with a student population from a variety of different backgrounds, including various ages, races, ethnicities, backgrounds, identities, and abilities, in order to support the mission and initiatives of the Department and College.
