The Department of Chemistry in the School of Chemical Sciences at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign invites applications for Lecturer or Senior Lecturer.
Duties & Responsibilities
Preparing and presenting contents in lecture & laboratory courses in Organic Chemistry.
Additional duties include: developing content and teaching online Organic Chemistry courses that fulfill the University online course certification requirement. Ability to coordinate and communicating with lab director and lab staff about the organic lab course and experiments. Monitor and mentor teaching assistants, holding office hours to meet with students outside of class time, writing and grading examinations, and assigning grades. Teaching faculty members will be encouraged to develop new courses and experiments with novel teaching techniques. Attending staff meetings and serve on departmental and University-wide committees on as needed basis.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. in Chemistry, or closely related field required.
Lecturer applicants must have the potential for high quality college or university-level teaching experience.
Senior Lecturer applicants will have demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching.
Interest or experience in chemical education research, curriculum development, current educational technologies, and a strong desire to create new and innovative course materials and experiments will enhance an application. Senior Lecturer applicants will have a proven track record of excellence in these areas.

SALARY AND APPOINTMENT INFORMATION
This is a full-time, non-tenure track position, renewable on a 12- month service basis (Aug 16 - Aug 15) subject to enrollments, funding, and positive performance evaluations. The expected start date is May 16, 2024, and is negotiable to start earlier or later than May 16, 2024. Initial proposed appointment is May 2024 - Aug 15, 2024. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
