Position Summary
The Department of Psychology in the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CASSH) at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, is recruiting a new colleague in the graduate School Psychology Online Program for a full-time Instructional Academic Staff position to start August 2024 (or sooner). The School Psychology Online Program is an innovative program supported by Graduate and Extended Learning and within the Psychology Department that mirrors the face-to-face program and its strong record of educating future school psychologists who positively impact children’s learning outcomes. Students in the online program are spread across the State and extend the reach of the program to rural and hard to fill positions. The program grants an Education Specialist degree and is accredited by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI). This position is affiliated with the School of Education and the Dean of the School of Education will provide feedback regarding hiring and personnel reviews to the department. School of Education-affiliated faculty are expected to be engaged in service and scholarly activities that inform and enhance the work they do with prospective teachers.
The faculty in the School Psychology Online Program bring unique skills as practitioners to the online platform for students that are spread across Wisconsin. We prefer an applicant who can contribute in one or more of the following ways: shared leadership in the direction of the online program, engagement in high impact online teaching practices; and increase community outreach and collaboration with schools and other community institutions serving children and adolescents. Graduate teaching expectations are a 4-4 course load and may include courses across the array and aligned with interest and expertise. Other graduate duties include supervision of Ed.S. capstone projects and supervision of student practica and internships. Additional responsibilities include maintaining an active scholarship and/or professional development agenda, and providing service to the department, university, community, and/or profession. Academic year salary is competitive and commensurate with experience with excellent fringe benefits and insurance programs.

Required Qualifications
  • Earned Education Specialist (or equivalent) in School Psychology, or a closely related field, by the time of application.
  • At least one year of teaching, pupil services, or administrative experience or the equivalent, as approved by the state superintendent, in prekindergarten through grade 12 settings. The completion of a school psychology Internship counts towards the teaching, pupil service, or administrative experience(s).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Earned Doctorate (PhD or PsyD) in School Psychology, or a closely related field, by the time of application.
  • A strong commitment to training in and identity with School Psychology
  • Evidence of potential for effective online teaching involving students in higher education settings.
  • Interest/expertise in collaborating with community agencies to develop high impact learning opportunities for students
  • At least three years of teaching, pupil services, or administrative experience or the equivalent, as approved by the state superintendent, in prekindergarten through grade 12 settings. The completion of a school psychology Internship counts towards the teaching, pupil service, or administrative experience(s).

The College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CASSH) includes departments and programs in the humanities, social sciences and interdisciplinary studies, as well departments in the School of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA). CASSH continues the established liberal studies tradition of providing curricula leading to the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor of Science degree.
