Job Summary | Eastern Washington University and the College of Health Science and Public Health invite applications for a one-year Lecturer of Public Health in the Department of Wellness and Movement Sciences (WAMS) to begin mid-September 2022. Appointment rank will be as a Lecturer for a one-year only appointment. This position will be re-advertised as a tenure track position with Fall 2023 start date. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in our Bachelor of Science in Public Health program. In addition, the successful candidate will advise undergraduate public health students. The successful candidate will also teach other departmental courses as needed, demonstrate teaching excellence, professional growth, and service. Additionally, all faculty are expected to actively participate in assessment of student learning and to engage in effective teaching. Information about the Department Eastern’s WAMS faculty bring knowledge and experience in teaching, research, and service to their undergraduate and graduate programs. We are especially interested in a colleague who complements our existing faculty. The department’s undergraduate programs prepare students to complete degrees in Exercise Science, Health and Physical Education, Outdoor Recreation and Leadership, Public Health, Recreation and Tourism Management, and Therapeutic Recreation. The department also offers Master of Science degrees in Athletic Training and in Wellness and Movement Sciences. |

Conditions of Employment | To be considered eligible for appointment into the position, applicants must be available and able to start in the position no later than 09/16/2022. This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment. All new employees must comply with EWU immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR and proof they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs. Note: Interviews might be conducted via Zoom (camera must be enabled). While we anticipate being open for in-person instruction for academic year 2022-23, should Washington State or university pandemic restrictions disallow for in-person instruction, then courses will be taught via online platforms, including Zoom and other technologies. Candidates must be able to demonstrate competence using these technologies. |
