Job Description:

The Department of Philosophy in the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) invites applications for a lecturer in Philosophy. The teaching load is eight (4/4) courses per academic year. This is a nine-month, non-tenure earning position with the possibility of optional summer teaching. The position is expected to begin August 8, 2022.

 

The successful candidate will primarily fill needs in staffing sections of our state-listed GEP course, PHI 2010 Introduction to Philosophy, as well as other philosophy program needs as indicated in the preferences below.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Philosophy or a related area from an accredited institution by July 31, 2022.

Preferred Qualifications:

1)      One year (or its equivalent) of full-time university-level teaching experience;

2)      Evidence of ability to teach courses in Reasoning (Philosophical Reasoning, Logic and Ethics, and/or Critical Thinking), particularly with innovative and research-current approaches, and courses in two or more of the following: Contemporary Philosophy, Pragmatism, and African-American Philosophy;

3)      Evidence of ability to teach large auditorium sections of introductory courses;

4)      Experience in teaching (or demonstrated ability to teach) interdisciplinary courses that contribute to departmental programs in Humanities and Cultural Studies and Religion and Cultural Studies.
