JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Mont Alto is excited to welcome nominations and applications for a Lecturer or Assistant Teaching Professor of Physical Therapist Assistant. This position is a non-tenure line, one-year, 36-week contract with possibility of renewal. The expected start date is August 2, 2021 or as negotiated.
 

This is a faculty appointment and has academic, administrative, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and philosophy of The Pennsylvania State University. This individual demonstrates competence in teaching, lecture and laboratory, and curriculum development. The successful candidate teaches assigned courses within the Physical Therapist Assistant program using traditional and hybrid delivery modes; participates in course development, program development, program assessment, student advising, and career guidance; participates in campus, college, university, professional, and community service activities; and engages in professional development activities to stay current in the discipline.

The successful candidate must be a graduate of an accredited physical therapist program, holding a minimum of a master’s degree to be considered for a Lecturer, a doctoral degree is required to be considered for the Assistant Teaching Professor rank. The applicant must be a licensed or license-eligible physical therapist in Pennsylvania. A minimum of three years of full-time post-licensure clinical practice in physical therapy is required. Preferred qualifications include American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties (ABPTS) certification and experience in teaching and curriculum development. Interest in active and collaborative learning and the instructional use of technology is important. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills and possess a strong desire to engage in departmental, campus, and community activities.

Penn State Mont Alto is one of more than 20 Penn State campuses state-wide. It is a student-centered campus of approximately 1000 students; about 25% are adult learners. The campus is located in south central Pennsylvania in a rural setting adjacent to the Michaux State Forest.  The coursework for the first two years of more than 160 Penn State baccalaureate majors is offered, as well as nine baccalaureate degrees and seven associate degrees. Students and faculty at Penn State Mont Alto have all of the resources of a major research university at their disposal, but in a small college atmosphere. Class sizes are small and the student/faculty ratio is low, so students can receive much individual attention. Our faculty members are committed to providing a high-quality educational experience to their students and are actively engaged in research. Our students receive a world-class education delivered in a small campus setting and have opportunities to participate in undergraduate research projects supervised by faculty members.
