Job Summary
 

The Bachelor of Arts in Music program at Georgia Southwestern State University has a rich history of providing a student-centered curriculum with graduates pursing teaching and performance opportunities throughout the region. Housed in the Department of Music, Communication & Emerging Media, the program is known for its commitment to providing a comprehensive music education curriculum that embraces diverse genres, styles, and cultural influences. Students are able to choose from a variety of majors, minors, and certificates to fit their talents and interests and have the opportunity to engage with a wide range of courses, covering areas such as music theory and history, music education and performing arts, to popular music and theater productions. 


Responsibilities
 

Deliver a variety of courses in the Music program, including music appreciation, music history, music theory and/or popular music. Other courses may include instrumental techniques, and applied music (brass, woodwinds, or percussion), according to interest and departmental needs.

Actively engage in research and scholarly activities to contribute to the academic excellence of the department.

Provide dedicated advising and mentorship to students as assigned, fostering their academic and professional growth.

Demonstrate a strong commitment to service through active participation in departmental, University, and professional activities.

Other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and Administration. 


Required Qualifications
 

Doctorate (preferred) or Masters (required) in Music or Music Education by the time of appointment.


Preferred Qualifications
 

Experience teaching courses in Music Appreciation, Music Theory, and Music History.

Experience collaborating across disciplines.

Experience coordinating students in experiential learning opportunities, internships, and High Impact Practices (HIPs). 


Proposed Salary
 

$40,000 - $45,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
