Brief Summary of Work for this Position | The Department of Economics is seeking applicants for a Lecturer (non-tenure track) beginning August 2023. This appointment is for one academic year, ending in May 2024. Lecturers are vital to the teaching mission and vibrant undergraduate program in the Department. This is a non-tenure track position with an expectation for research productivity and service. Teaching expectation includes 3 courses in economics each Fall and Spring semester (6 courses total) and some service support to clubs, etc. Courses will be a mix of principles and upper-level undergraduate courses. This position is expected to be research active and contribute to the intellectual life of the department |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements | The successful candidate must hold a master’s degree in economics. Candidates must be capable of excellent/dynamic teaching in variety of courses with some opportunity to teach online. Candidates should also be capable of developing a research agenda to maintain credentialing at SP or PA levels consistent with AACSB requirements |
Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience | Doctorate in economics is preferred. |

Primary Function of Organizational Unit | The Department of Economics and Finance at UNCW contributes four concentrations (finance, economics, real estate, and fintech) to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration as well as housing the Bachelor of Arts in Economics Degree and the Master of Science in Finance. In addition, the department actively supports the Master of Business Administration program as well as the International MBA program, a joint program with international partner schools. The Department actively encourages faculty and student engagement through student clubs in addition to other programs such as Fed Challenge, CFA Challenge, the student managed investment fund, and honors research projects. The department also prides itself on an improving research portfolio and collaborative work within the department. |
