Job Description:

Trinity University seeks applications for a three-year lecturer in the Department of Finance and Decision Science beginning in January or August 2024 depending on candidate's availability. The lecturer will teach courses in Statistics, Information Systems, and Business Analytics. The position is renewable based on performance and funding availability.

The Neidorff School of Business at Trinity University offers an integrated, innovative undergraduate and graduate business programs for students who are well grounded in the liberal arts. Building on a firm understanding of the fundamentals of business and rigorous discipline-specific instruction, students learn to apply advanced concepts experientially. Our programs produce globally aware, ethically sensitive, technologically proficient graduates who think critically, communicate effectively, and understand business as a consequence of both field and classroom involvement. The school is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and offers

Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Arts, and Master of Science degrees.

The Business Analytics and Technology (BAT) program within the Department of Finance and Decision Science is responsible for providing all business statistics, operations management, and business analytics courses within Trinity University's Neidorff School of Business. BAT faculty teach 4 out of the 11 core courses required for all business majors. They also provide major and

minor specific courses in the areas of Business Analytics and Supply Chain Management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The candidate must possess a strong desire and willingness to work in a liberal arts-oriented

university that values diversity, interdisciplinary scholarship, experiential learning, and international

engagement. The position requires:

  • Teach twelve credit hours per semester (equivalent approximately to four sections per semester or 4+4, with a total of twelve contact hours per week).

  • Participate in service to the Department, School, and University.

  • Advise Business Analytics and Finance majors

  • Flexibility to teach other courses as directed by the Department's needs.

EDUCATION

Required:

A Master's degree or higher in one of the following areas, preferably from an AACSB accredited business school:

  • Applied Statistics

  • Information Systems

  • Business Analytics/ Data Science

  • Business Administration

  • Or some other closely related area (Engineering is not considered a closely related area)

EXPERIENCE

Preferred:

  • Ability and willingness to teach a variety of introductory level courses including: Statistics for Business and Economics, Excel modeling, Fundamentals of Information Systems and others

  • Corporate work experience in the areas mentioned above or related fields

  • Experience teaching diverse student populations
