Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

The Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology (EEOB) has a strong commitment to ensuring all members of our community feel like they belong at Kennesaw State University. Job Summary
 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of Biology in the Department of Ecology, Evolution and Organismal Biology that begins August 2024. 


Responsibilities
 

A commitment to excellence in teaching and service to the university, department and/or discipline is expected of all non-tenure track faculty.

  • The main responsibility of this position is teaching at the undergraduate level with an emphasis on active, and experiential learning. 
  • Fifty percent of the teaching focus for this position will be allocated to teaching a first-semester freshman course, Culture and Success in Science and Mathematics.
  • The remaining 50% teaching will be allocated as needed in the department to other undergraduate biology courses, and primarily towards teaching the undergraduate introductory biology course, Principes of Biology II (BIOL 1108), which has an evolutionary and organismal emphasis.
  • Successful candidates will be expected to establish a teaching environment where all students can be successful and feel a sense of belonging. 
  • Duties may include teaching evenings, online or in a hybrid format.  
  • Summer teaching is optional.  
  • This is a teaching position, so there is neither expectation of nor support for research. 
  • Participation in professional service
    to the university, department and/or discipline is expected.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
 


Required Qualifications
 
  • A master's or terminal degree (e.g., Ph.D.), or the foreign equivalent, in Biology or a closely related field. 

OR

  • A master's degree or terminal degree (e.g. Ph.D.), or the foreign equivalent, in any discipline with 18 graduate credit hours in Biology
     

AND

  • Teaching experience in Biology or related fields
     

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Demonstrated success using evidence-based teaching practices at the university level.  
  • A record of teaching organismal biology, ecology, and/or evolutionary biology. 
  • Experience mentoring undergraduate students. 
  • A record of engagement in activities that foster participation and success of all individuals.
  • Experience teaching on-line or hybrid courses.
