Department Information
 

Serving over 250 music majors and 1600 non-majors, the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music is a dynamic and inclusive community of learners within the College of the Arts at KSU, the 3rd largest public university in the University System of Georgia. The Bailey School of Music offers undergraduate degrees in performance (instrumental, vocal, and jazz), music theory, composition, and music education, as well as a music minor. Job Summary
 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of Bands and Assistant Director of Bands in the Dr. Bobbie Bailey School of Music with a preferred start date of August 2024. This is a nine-month contracted position.


Responsibilities
 

A commitment to excellence in teaching and service to the university, department and/or discipline is expected of all non-tenure track faculty. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in band, music and music education, including possible supervision of student teachers.
  • Serving as the Assistant Director of Bands and Assistant Director of the Marching Owls (KSU Marching Band). May also include conducting the KSU Wind Symphony and/or University Band and directing or assisting with the Basketball Band. 
  • Service to Department/College/University/professional community is expected.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
 


Required Qualifications
 
  • A minimum of a Master's degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Music or Music Education is required.
  • Evidence of experience and excellence in K-12 teaching (marching and/or concert band)
  • Evidence of experience creating and writing marching band drills
     

Preferred Qualifications
 
  • Doctoral degree, or the foreign equivalent, in music (ABD considered)
  • Evidence of experience and excellence in collegiate teaching (GA/TA experience may be considered)
  • Evidence of experience in collegiate or high school education directing marching band and concert band
  • Evidence of recruiting experience and excellent organizational skills

    Background Check
