Job Summary
The School of Engineering and Applied Science at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer-IR or Lecturer-AT, commencing Fall 2023. The normal teaching load is the equivalent of four, three-credit lecture courses per semester. The School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS), offers ABET-accredited undergraduate engineering programs in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, and Engineering Management. SEAS is committed to a rigorous curriculum, excellent teaching, small classes, attentive advising, and close and congenial contact with students.

Essential Functions
  • Teaching undergraduate-level engineering science courses in first-year engineering seminar, statics, dynamics, and mechanics of materials, and possibly other engineering science courses. The first-year seminar course serves the needs of the students in all of SEAS engineering disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical and computer engineering and engineering management.
  • Advising undergraduate engineering majors.
  • Contributing to program assessment and accreditation activities and serving the school in its strategic initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned by Department Chair and/or Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a technical engineering discipline.
  • Experience teaching undergraduate engineering courses.
Desired Qualifications
  • PhD in a technical engineering discipline.
  • Willingness and ability to teach some semesters at Gonzaga’s campus in Florence, Italy.
  • Professional experience in engineering or related technical field.
  • Three or more year’s experience teaching undergraduate courses in engineering as the instructor of record.
  • Experience creating inclusive learning environments that address the needs of diverse learners, including students from groups that have been traditionally underrepresented in technical fields.
