Position Summary
The Department of Psychology within the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences is currently seeking lecturer candidates for the part-time faculty pool with emphasis in the following areas of expertise:
  • Biology & Behavior (neuroscience),
  • Statistics for Psychology (using SPSS),
  • Research Methods (writing intensive),
  • Developmental Psychopathology,
  • Theories of Psychotherapy, and
  • History of Psychology.

These classes will be taught on the UIW campus or in San Antonio, Texas. or online. In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. Official duties and responsibilities of faculty members at the University include teaching, scholarship, service, and professional activities as assigned.
This applicant pool will remain online and be used to hire interested part-time faculty as needed during the 2024-2025 academic year.

Essential Functions
  • Conduct on campus or online lectures for each assigned course based on approved departmental syllabi, utilizing online homework system and learning management system; prepare and deliver consistent, interactive lectures; potential classes include the following: Introduction to Psychology, Lifespan Development, Child & Adolescent Development, Adult Development and Aging, Abnormal Psychology, Personality, Social Psychology, and Senior level courses;
  • Meet learning objectives on the official university syllabus;
  • Incorporate technology into teaching, classroom discussions, and other related activities;
  • Construct examinations and other performance-based activities that provide evidence of learning by the students in the course;
  • Maintain on-campus office and/or online hours per week per section to help students learn and answer questions (1 hour per 3-hour class, physically and/or electronically);
  • Work collaboratively with departmental faculty to ensure standard curriculum outcomes are met; participate in department activities when relevant;
  • Adhere to UIW Faculty Handbook, including timely record keeping of student activities, fair and equitable evaluation of student performance, and timely feedback to students regarding their performance in the course.
  • Conduct respectful relationships with faculty, staff, and students both in and outside the classroom.
  • Maintain contact with the department chair and participate in meetings upon request.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to effectively learn and use instructional technology;
    • Ability to incorporate technology into teaching;
    • Willingness and flexibility to teach day, evening and weekend sections as needed;
    • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
    • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
    Required Education
    Master’s Degree with at least 18 hours in Psychology OR PhD in Psychology.
    Required Work Experience
    At least one (1) year of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level, with documentation of student evaluations.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Ph.D. in Psychology
    • Two (2) years of successful experience teaching at the undergraduate level, with documentation of student evaluations.
