Job Description:

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Sciences at Berry College invites applications for a full-time lecturer position in Mathematics to begin in August 2024.

Situated in a comprehensive college with a liberal arts core, the department is invested in innovative pedagogy through active learning methods and mentoring students from a wide range of backgrounds. The candidate should share our department's commitment to student engagement inside and outside of the classroom, as well as our desire to promote opportunities for students from underrepresented groups. The candidate will have the opportunity to work with students and faculty from a variety of disciplines within the School of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and across the college.

Primary duties of this position include teaching courses in support of the department's major programs as well as Foundations (general education) offerings. Additional duties, depending on the candidate's expertise and interest, could include the coordination and supervision of departmental initiatives and activities, including course placement, supervising student work opportunities within the department, and outreach efforts. Berry College has a vibrant LifeWorks program where students have the opportunity of eight semesters of paid work experience. As a LifeWorks supervisor, the candidate will have opportunities for training and development through the LifeWorks office.


Requirements:

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in mathematics or a closely related field. Applicants who are ABD should include documentation that the requirements for the degree will be completed by August 2024.
