Position Summary
The Human Biology Program and Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University invite applications for a full-time non-tenure track Lecturer position focused on addictions with teaching responsibilities split between the two units (three courses per year in Human Biology and two per year in Psychological and Brain Sciences). Human Biology is a rapidly growing program employing innovative educational practices, including interdisciplinary team teaching, that promote a holistic approach to scientific issues as they relate to the biology of human beings. Faculty within the program are drawn from numerous academic departments across the College of Arts and Sciences. The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences represents the largest set of undergraduate majors in the College of Arts and Sciences, with 2,140 total majors spanning nine different academic credentials that include a Psychology B.A., a Psychology B.S., a Neuroscience B.S., and a newly created Clinical Science B.S.. The candidate is expected to complement and strengthen Psychological and Brain Sciences’ curriculum and should also be qualified to teach large introductory classes.
Basic Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Psychology, Clinical Science, or a related field is required. Area of expertise should focus on addiction with clear relevance to contemporary human biology. Candidates should have strong communication and organizational skills, and documented evidence of classroom and/or laboratory teaching ability. Salary is commensurate with experience and full benefits are included. The expected start date is August 1, 2024. Although a permanent position, the initial appointment is for three years. This Lecturer position has a promotion track, with promotion to Senior Lecturer and then Teaching Professor.
