Job Description:

The Department of Geography at Binghamton University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer position for an appointment of up to three years with the possibility of renewal. The lecturer will teach a range of undergraduate courses in the areas of Introduction to Geography, GIS/Cartography, Economic/Retail Geography, and Medical/Health Geography to begin August 2024.  Following the first year, the specific courses may differ, depending on departmental need. The teaching load is 3/3.

We especially seek a candidate whose background and experience includes course development and teaching in Introduction to Geography, health issues, urban geography and/or retail geography.  We also welcome expertise in cartographic principles and GIS, and population characteristics. Experience in applying geospatial analysis to urban/historic landscapes is required.

The ideal candidate would, in their teaching, complement the department's ongoing interdisciplinary project concerned with local urban revitalization.

  • Ph.D. in Geography
  • Experience applying geospatial analysis to urban/historic landscapes
  • Preferred:

  • Experience teaching undergraduate geography courses including Introduction to Geography, and health issues, urban geography, and/or retail geography
  • Ability and willingness to mentor undergraduate students.
