Department of Chemistry at Columbus State University (CSU) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track lecturer position in Forensic Chemistry or closely related sub-discipline. The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrate a strong interest in forensic chemistry. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position has been filled. Appointment for this position begins August 1, 2024.

This position is a teaching position and does not require research and service. The normal teaching load for a lecturer is fifteen credit hours (5 courses) per semester in both introductory and upper-level chemistry courses. Courses may be taught during daytime and evening hours using a variety of modalities, such as face-to-face, online, and hybrid. The successful candidate will (1) teach lower and upper-division undergraduate courses in chemistry for majors and non-majors with special attention to forensic chemistry, (2) develop and teach lecture and lab courses for the Forensic Chemistry track in the B.S. (Bachelor of Science) program, (3) function as the coordinator of the B.S. Forensic Chemistry track providing guidance to its development and structure by assessing and aligning student learning outcomes in the track, (4) Establish and strengthen collaborations with the local GBI Crime lab to provide opportunities for students to participate in internships at the agency. The successful candidate will also foster an environment of professionalism and collaboration; demonstrate an exceptional ability to function as part of a team with university faculty and the local community; and engage in practices that support the University¿s focus on student success and the Momentum Approach.

Candidates must have a Master of Science degree in forensic chemistry or a closely related field, such as chemistry or biochemistry, prior to the start date of the Fall 2024 semester. The successful candidate must be familiar with modern lab techniques used in forensic science analysis with emphasis in DNA analysis and other relevant biochemical methodologies. Prior teaching experience (face-to-face-, hybrid, or online) is required. In addition to having excellent organizational skills, candidates must demonstrate effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Salary is commensurate with experience and education.
