Brandeis University EDUCATION PROGRAM seeks to hire a part-time Lecturer to teach ED 253, Improving Classroom Teaching & Learning, a required 3-week summer course which begins July 8 and ends July 25, in the Teacher Leader master’s degree program. ED 253 is one of two introductory courses taught in the first summer of a hybrid program that involves 3 weeks of in-person study on the Brandeis campus during two summers and online learning during the intervening school year. Part of the Instructional Leadership strand in the program, ED 253 develops teacher leaders’ capacity to work effectively with colleagues on improving teaching and learning in schools. Teacher leaders experience and learn how to use a number of key professional development tools, stances and core practices such as using the instructional triangle to observe teaching, describing teaching using non-evaluative language, facilitating discussion-based protocols, and enacting an inquiry stance.

Candidates should have an advanced degree in education and extensive experience teaching graduate level courses and working with in-service teachers. Prior experience with both public and Jewish Day Schools is not required but is an additional asset.  Candidates should submit a CV, cover letter, and contact information for references.


This appointment is to a position that is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
