The Department of Economics at Brandeis University seeks instructors for ECON 25a, Oral Communication in Economics Practicum, two sections in Fall 2024 and two sections in Spring 2025; each section is a 2 credit course.

This course introduces students to techniques in public speaking in economics using microeconomic applications.  It teaches students to explain real-world economic problems to an audience using economic reasoning and tools.  This is a required course for the major and has Econ 80a (Intermediate Microeconomics) as a prerequisite, although Econ 80a may be taken as a corequisite.  The class will meet once a week for 80 minutes on a day/time to be decided.  In-person teaching is strongly preferred and candidates should be prepared to hold office hours.

Candidates with at least a MA in Economics and previous university-level teaching experience will be given preference. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, CV, a draft course syllabus, and names and contact information for two references. The deadline for first consideration is March 1, 2024.

This appointment is to a position that is in a collective bargaining unit represented by SEIU Local 509.
