Job Summary
The Department of Literature and Language at East Tennessee State University invites applications for a full-time lectureship in creative writing beginning Aug 15, 2024.
This position involves a 4/4 teaching load that may include any of the following based on department needs: introductory and multi-genre creative writing classes; upper-level creative writing workshops in area of expertise; literature classes; special topics or honors literature classes; and first-year composition classes. The successful candidate will also serve on departmental committees and contribute to the development of creative writing curriculum at ETSU. Faculty must be dedicated to working in a department that is sensitive to the needs of first-generation students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Applicants should demonstrate expertise in the subject area through a track record of teaching and creative publication.
Required Qualifications
  • A terminal degree (MFA, PhD, or equivalent) in Creative Writing or a closely related field at time of application.
  • Strong record of poetry, fiction and /or nonfiction published in books or periodicals of literary merit.
  • Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching with at least one year teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Additional publication and teaching experience in a secondary genre (fiction, poetry, plays, and/or creative nonfiction).
  • Experience with audio storytelling/podcasting.
  • Experience teaching literature classes at the post-secondary level.
  • Experience with curricula of underrepresented subject areas of literature, including (but not limited to) Black American, Latino/a, Appalachian, and LGBTQ.
Salary 32,000.00
