Job Description Summary

The Department of Natural and Applied Sciences at Bentley University invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in Human Ecology/Sustainability Science. We seek a multidisciplinary scholar who will teach the equivalent of four courses (12 credit hours) each semester in the areas of human-environment interactions, climate and environmental justice, and sustainability system science. Opportunities exist to develop new lecture and/or lab-based courses that examine the societal aspects of sustainability at the intersection of natural and human systems, which complement existing department domains of Environmental Sustainability and Health. Candidates that stress undergraduate research opportunities, evidence-based communication, and the integration of inquiry-based teaching and learning in their courses are strongly encouraged to apply. The candidate will be joining a department that emphasizes systems analysis and systems thinking, planetary health, and the role that business can play to advance the overall wellbeing of people, the planet, and their prosperity.

Our programs prepare Bentley graduates with a background in concepts related to sustainability and competencies in evidence-based decision making. The successful candidate will be expected to advise students in the Sustainability Science B.A. program and the Earth, Environment, and Global Sustainability minor. The ideal applicant will be a versatile, innovative, and enthusiastic teacher who enjoys curriculum development, trying new pedagogies, and mentoring undergraduate students.

The NAS Department values faculty who are enthusiastic participants in the life of the University and who will help mentor learners and engage them in research. Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates should have completed a doctorate in a sustainability-related field, with a preference for STEM-based or STEM-adjacent fields. Evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills is expected.
