The University of Houston-Downtown invites applications for one lecturer position to support the first-year composition program. The position is full-time non-tenure-track in the Department of English. The teaching load is 5/5, typically with 4-5 sections of ENG 1301: Composition I and/or ENG 1302: Composition II each semester. Faculty will be asked to teach primarily in-person, with the possibility of teaching some courses online. This is a one-year appointment to begin August 2024.

Qualifications

 
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field by the time of initial appointment
  • Experience in higher education

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a relevant field
  • Expertise in composition and rhetoric
  • Expertise in first-year writing
  • Experience working with first-generation college students
  • Online teaching experience, both synchronous and asynchronous
