The Department of English, Philosophy, and Communication Studies at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, Wisconsin's Polytechnic University, is seeking to hire a part-time Instructional Academic Staff instructor to teach on-campus sections in the first-year composition program starting fall 2024. The Department of English, Philosophy, and Communication Studies seeks a colleague to teach in the first-year composition (FYC) program in a collegial department that values collaboration. The FYC program offers five courses from Basic Writing to Honors English. The program serves 2,500 to 3,000 students a year, and it emphasizes a genre-based, applied approach in which students learn to write for a variety of audiences and rhetorical situations.

Adjunct instructors will attend department meetings as requested, are expected to participate in FYC professional development and assessment, and are encouraged to join departmental governance.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum/Required
Master's degree in Rhetoric and Composition, English, Creative Writing or a related field.  

Highly Desired/Preferred
Minimum of one-year experience teaching college-level composition and record of successfully teaching college-level composition. Experience with teaching composition in a technology-rich environment, including familiarity with online course delivery systems, is desirable, as UW-Stout is a laptop campus.

    Salary range is commensurate with education and experience. Full-time teaching load is 5/5.
