The Department of Natural Sciences at the University of Houston Downtown (UHD) invites applicants for a full-time non-tenure-track lecturer position in chemistry beginning in fall 2023. The position is a 9-month renewable appointment and requires at least a Master's Degree in Chemistry or a related field. The primary responsibilities are to:

  • Teaches the equivalent of five chemistry courses (15 contact hours) per semester in the Fall and Spring, including lecture and lab sections of lower and upper-level chemistry courses.
  • Works with other chemistry faculty to maintain and improve instructional quality and student success through regular meetings and professional development.
  • Participates in the assessment of chemistry courses.

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications:

  • MS in Chemistry or a related field

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in chemistry or related field or Ed.D.
  • Passion for and prior experience in undergraduate teaching
  • Training in and/or experience with instructional design and technology
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in assessment
