Job Summary
Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington, invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position at the rank of Lecturer in the Department of Human Physiology for the 2023-2024 academic year. The position is for a one-year term. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
Program and Position: Vibrant, growing, undergraduate human physiology program (with approximately 240 students) seeks a faculty member to teach primarily in the areas of anatomy and physiology. The opportunity to teach in biomechanics or exercise physiology labs may also be available, depending on the candidates background. Gonzaga University is located in Spokane, WA, which has approximately 570,000 residents in the metropolitan area. Essential Functions
  • Teach 20 credits per academic year in the BS in Human Physiology curriculum. Teaching assignment will include primarily lectures and laboratories in anatomy and physiology. Other courses may include other courses in the curriculum or in the candidate’s area of expertise as assigned by the department chairperson to meet departmental needs.
  • Serve as academic advisor Human Physiology majors.
  • Academic citizenship: Active participation in service to the department, the School and The University is expected.
  • Professional development: Engagement in the curricular development, particularly in our A&P series of courses, will be encouraged.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or ABD in Physiology or related discipline (Biology, Kinesiology, Doctor of Physical Therapy, etc.). ABD considered, with the requirement that the candidate will have degree conferred by July 15, 2023.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach (with evidence) at the university or college level (these abilities could be result of being the instructor of record, significant TA experience, mentored teaching, etc.)
  • Demonstrated evidence of skills in technology applied to classroom and laboratory work in teaching of anatomy and physiology
  • Demonstrated experience applying cultural competence in academic settings and supporting students from diverse backgrounds, identities and experiences.
