The University of Missouri System Human Resources dedicated HR team provides leadership in the planning, integration, and implementation of human resource services and programs for faculty and staff across all campuses and the health system. This position is responsible for performing a variety of human resources and timekeeping duties to ensure effective and efficient FMLA, disability leave, and Shared Leave programs for over 17,000 faculty and staff.  Knowledge of payroll, FMLA and FLSA fundamentals, HRIS systems, payroll timekeeping systems, and university leave policies is required.

Responsibilities
40% Provide consultive services to employees regarding leave and disability benefits including eligibility requirements and process information. Coordinate the intake process with the appropriate vendor(s).  Provide support to routine and non-routine inquiries. May escalate complex issues to supervisor.

40% Provide program administration including, timekeeping, and payroll assistance for approved university leave and university program processes, ensuring attention to detail, university policy adherence, and Kronos and Time & Labor knowledge. Collaboration and partnership with other departments and areas specifically, but not limited to, Central Payroll (CAPS) and the HR Service Center. Thorough knowledge of policies, research of information, data verification, identification of discrepancies and solutions, and interaction with customers, other departments, and vendors is essential. Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Review approved claims and determine if leave will be paid or unpaid leave, requiring knowledge of university faculty and staff collected rules and regulations.
• Process all leave of absence paperwork according to university policies including Leave of Absence, ePAF and record appropriate time reporting codes on the timesheet for monthly and BIW paid employees.
• Provide timely and accurate responses to employees and all levels of leadership. concerning day-to-day leave issues and activities, escalating claim issues as necessary and appropriate to the vendor or internal leaders.
• Review Return-to-Work papers ensuring appropriate ADA coordination if necessary.
• Process return to work ePAF.
• Manage PTO accruals to ensure leave balances are accurate when employees return from leave. Process adjustments if necessary and approved.
• Maintain communications with appropriate stakeholders throughout the process.
• Payroll adjustments as needed

20% Review vendor reports regularly. Ensure timely and professional communication to appropriate university stakeholders throughout the process. Report examples include:
• New leave and status update notifications.
• Denied applications.
• Return-to-work confirmations.
• FMLA Leave Entitlement Exhaustion notifications.
• Short-term disability benefit exhaustion notifications; coordinate with long term disability if necessary
• Other reports as necessary to ensure positive employee experiences and university business is functioning effectively.
