Position Summary

In support of the Executive Director, handles certain activities required for locating programs delivered throughout the United States and Michigan (primarily outside of Mt. Pleasant), including handling leasing responsibilities, use of facilities and insurance documentation, domestic civilian and international MOU/MOA documents, and Clery Act and related compliance requirements. Serves as liaison with Landlords, and with real estate brokers in addition to other necessary liaison responsibilities. Oversees lease negotiation and preparation of related documentation under the guidance of the Executive Director. This position is detailed and requires a well developed common sense approach. In addition, this position has some functional supervisory expectations.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business or educational administration, human resources, leadership, or legal studies.
Five years professional work experience with demonstrated increased position responsibility (i.e. working within legal/regulatory environment).
Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and critical thinking.
Strong self-starter and ability to function productively in ambiguous environments.
Demonstrated ability to follow through and meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
Demonstrated familiarity and successful work experience with regulations and/or contracts.
Demonstrated commitment to service excellence principles.
Demonstrated experience in multi-state environment.
Knowledge of email and Microsoft products including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and online systems, and awareness of how to leverage technology in the performance of duties and responsibilities.

Duties & Responsibilities

Handles lease negotiation and facility-related compliance processes for all CMU leases throughout the United States and Michigan (primarily outside of Mount Pleasant, Michigan, but not exclusively).
Coordinates lease protocol, acts as liaison with brokers and landlords, negotiates and reviews lease terms and contracts, and coordinates submission of lease status reports and requests for resolutions to the CMU Board of Trustees.
Handles contracting of facilities functions.
Handles domestic civilian and international MOU/MOA documents.
Handles articulation agreements in collaboration with Academic Development, as needed..
Complies, coordinates, and responds to requests for proposals (RFPs) for new program opportunities.
Ensures completion, appropriate signatures, and retention for all documents related to duties.
Responds to requests for information, provides written guidelines, and compiles annual reports.
Handles non-employee related risk management matters and coordinates appropriately with Risk Management/CMU.
Handles compliance with Clery Act obligations in support of and in collaboration with the CMU Police.
Contributes to the completion of other responsibilities within the department as directed. These other responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, licensure, contract review, and other compliance matters.
Works closely with other members of the team including the Executive Director.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
