Position Summary

Under the direction of the Manager of Learning & Organizational Development, this position is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects related to the learning management system (LMS) and other learning technologies within an organization. They collaborate with instructional designers, trainers, and stakeholders to manage the LMS, ensure its functionality, and support the implementation of effective learning and development programs. This role requires a strong understanding of learning management systems, instructional design principles, latest software for designing and editing, and technical troubleshooting skills.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Learning Management System Administration: Oversees and manages the administration and maintenance of the learning management system (LMS), including user management, content management, course deployment, and system configuration for campus-wide implementation.
  • System Integration: Integrate the LMS with other learning technologies, such as authoring tools, virtual learning environments, and performance management systems.
  • Systems enhancements: Identify opportunities for system enhancements and improvements, collaborating with vendors, IT teams, and stakeholders to implement necessary changes.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support to users regarding the LMS and other learning technologies, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring their effective utilization.
  • Data Management: Monitors and collects data related to learner progress, course completion, and learning outcomes, generating reports and insights for stakeholders.
  • Train and Support Users: Conduct training sessions and provide user support to instructional designers, trainers, and learners on the effective use of the LMS and other learning technologies.
  • Content Development Support: Collaborate campus-wide with instructional designers to ensure the successful deployment of e-learning content, troubleshooting any technical issues that arise.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform quality assurance checks on learning content and ensure that it conforms to technical specifications, accessibility standards, and organizational branding guidelines.
  • Knowledge and know-how of using specialized software such as Adobe, Final Cut Pro, Camtasia or others to video edit for aligning the video content with learning objectives and ensuring accessibility for all learners on the Learning Management System trainings.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Liaise with campus-wide implementation in mind, instructional designers, trainers, IT teams, and vendors to effectively communicate system updates, resolve technical issues, and discuss system requirements.
  • Collaboration and support with new employee orientation, and learning & development initiatives.
  • Stay Updated: Keep abreast of emerging trends and best practices in learning technologies and instructional design, integrating them into system administration processes and training programs.
  • Other related duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in instructional design or computer science and three (3) years related experience which may include training, IT or related field, instructional design.
  • Proven experience as a Learning Management System Specialist or similar role, with expertise in managing and supporting learning technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of learning management systems, their functionalities, and best practices for system administration.
  • Proficiency in learning management systems, authoring tools, virtual learning environments, and other learning technologies.
  • Technical troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve issues related to system functionality, user access, and content deployment.
  • Effective communications and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to and interact with a non-traditional and diverse student and employee population and environment.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • Approach situations, problems or data with an Analytical Mindset in a systematic and logical manner collect, analyze, and interpret data to inform decision making, and to provide valuable insights and recommendations.
  • Familiarity with instructional design principles and adult learning theories is preferred.
  • Strong data management and analytical skills, with the ability to generate reports and insights; Compare data from a variety of sources for accuracy and completeness.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree or additional certifications in Learning Management Systems are a plus.
