Georgia State University’s Instructional Innovation and Technology Department (innovation.gsu.edu) is looking for two part-time, skilled, and diverse Computer Services AssistantsThis position will assist in the function and maintenance of the technology in formal and informal spaces related to the activities of teaching and learning at one of the six Georgia State University campus locations. Support spaces include lecture classrooms, computer classrooms, open computer labs, and various other physical spaces and devices.
This posting is to fill vacancies at the Decatur and Dunwoody locations:
The scope of responsibilities for this position will include these essential duties but is not limited to the following,

  • Assist with Lead responsibilities including administrative tasks, such as record keeping, and other related duties.
  • Performs entry-level technical support of IT/AV enabled spaces and events on campuses included IT equipment upgrades, testing, and replacements.
  • Provides technical assistance and training to faculty, staff, and students in the use of software and hardware; instructs the user in the proper use of equipment or software.
  • Report status of technology issues through the campus ticketing system and other forms of official communication (i.e. email, chat client, or other supervisor-directed tools).

Qualifications

: High School diploma or GED and one year experience working with computer software packages and equipment; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Hiring Qualifications: 
  • High school diploma or GED and one-year experience working with computer software packages and IT/AV/Media equipment; or a combination of training and related experience

  • Knowledge of basic computer care and usage

  • Knowledge of existing software packages

  • Effective time management skills

  • Effective oral and written communication skills

  • Ability to lift heavy objects such as computers and related equipment
