Learning Commons Work Study Assistant

The Learning Commons is seeking a federal work study candidate to work at the library’s circulation desk. The ideal candidate is friendly and outgoing and will provide excellent customer service to our visiting students, alumni, and staff. Additionally, the candidate will be able to work 20-25 hours a week, and needs morning and evening availability Monday through Friday. Some weekend availability may be required.

Duties include, but are not limited to: assist patrons check materials in and out through the library system; perform open and close procedures; maintain and process work related to OhioLINK; answer telephones; schedule meeting rooms; assist patrons in locating materials; troubleshoot library equipment including computers, printers, and fax machines. Circulation Assistants may also be asked to contribute to library projects throughout the year.

Candidate must: be proficient with internet and e-mail; have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products; be ability to multi-task; have strong problem-solving skills; be able to work independently and be self-directed; have strong attention to detail; outstanding customer service skills; strong administrative skills; and excellent organizational skills.

All candidates must be current Franklin students, and have Federal Work Study eligibility.
