Learning Commons Student Assistant

Franklin University has multiple part-time student positions available in the Learning Commons working up to 19 hours per week. These positions provide services to our students, staff, and faculty. Hours will be flexible; however, you must have some evenings until 6pm-8pm as well as some weekend availability. Additionally, applicants must be enrolled in classes at Franklin University to apply for this position.

The Circulation Team Assistant performs daily opening and closing procedures for the library, assists customers with locating items and checking books in and out, schedules meeting room reservations, answers telephone questions, and troubleshoots printer and copy machine problems. Additionally, they help with digitization needs of the department and collection development projects as needed.

The Academic Support Assistant is responsible for answering phone, responding to emails, assisting student in making tutoring appointments, completing workshop registrations and participating in multiple academic support projects, aimed at building more robust academic support programs and improving the overall student experience at the Learning Commons.

The successful candidate will possess outstanding customer service skills, innovative ideas, and have demonstrated problem solving skills. Effective oral and written communication skills are a key element of this role, as well as being able to work within a multi-tasked team environment is required. Must be proficient with the Internet and Microsoft Office, with an intermediate knowledge level of Microsoft Word.

The candidate must possess a strong customer-centered philosophy and develop an understanding of, and agreement with, Franklin’s relationship management principles and University values.
